Mathematics and Natural Sciences

Exploratory Studies is a great way to refine your interests in mathematics, natural sciences, and STEM areas. Beginning in Exploratory Studies in the College of Arts & Sciences will allow you to enhance your mathematics capabilities and develop your ability to think both critically and scientifically by taking appropriate math and science courses. During your first two semesters you will work closely with your professional advisor to select a major that aligns with your academic and career goals.

Required Courses

A&S exploratory students in Mathematics and Natural Sciences can expect to complete coursework in fields such as biology, chemistry, geological sciences, mathematical economics, mathematics, and physics. Requirements vary by major and degree type, so please consult with your professional advisor about course recommendations and sequencing.

Note: Once a student successfully completes MA 111: Introduction to Contemporary Mathematics, they are eligible to declare ANY major in the College of Arts & Sciences.
