Tech Tips from the Hive
Welcome to the first installment Tech Tips from the Hive. Tech Tips will be a regular feature of the staff newsletter where we hope to provide you with useful information about technology for both work and personal use. We will also use this space to answer technical issues that our support staff sees regularly in the College. Additionally, we’ll try to provide information on programs, apps, technology, etc. that you may find useful at home or at work.

Hey Everybody! My name is Rick Mullins and I’m a Lead Budget Analyst in the ScienceIBU. I was born in Gainesville, on the campus of the University of Florida. My parents must’ve realized while I was a toddler that I was destined to spend my life on a campus much further north. We moved to Somerset, KY (about 75 minutes south of Lexington) when I was 2 years old. I moved to Lexington in 1999 and began working as a Student Worker here at UK. This is my second go ‘round with A&S and I couldn’t be happier to be back.

I grew up in Somerset, KY and came to Lexington in 2006 to attend UK. I graduated with a BA in Geography in 2009 and an MS in Education Policy in 2012. As an undergraduate, I helped out in a preschool classroom at Booker T. Washington Elementary. I was also an Arts & Sciences Ambassador my senior year. In graduate school, I worked in the Center for Student Involvement and was the advisor to the Center for Community Outreach programs. Along the way I met my wife Ashley and we have been married 4 years.
