Below is a list of preliminary steps that can assist you as you transition through the changing staff structure in A&S.
(1) Review the “Changes in the Staff Structure” website. Become familiar with the information (org charts, timeline, JAQs, etc.) and ask us for more information if you can't find the details you need.
(2) Think about the job responsibilities that you like and enjoy doing each day. There are a lot of different opportunities in the new structure. It will be helpful to think about what positions will be the best fit for you.
(3) Review the JAQs/Major Job Responsibilities (MJRs) posted on the website. Think about how your skills, knowledge, and experience match the JAQs/MJRs listed . Determine what positions you are interested in applying for.
(4) Use your resources. There are many available to you as a current employee of the University. If you have specific questions about the College A&S reorganization, please don’t hesitate to contact Kirsten Turner, Stella Matuszak or Kathleen Harman if you aren’t able to find answers to your questions on the dedicated website. You can also take advantage of the University’s HR Career Development Office. They can talk through your career goals; review your resume; provide interviewing tips; as wellas provide other career-related advice.
(6) Consider attending one of the specially-offered UK HR trainings (Insider’s ViewPoint) and/or A&S Forums being held in POT. These are optional, but can be helpful as you start to think through these new career opportunities.
(7) Create/Update your UK on-line application.
(8) Create/Update your cover letter and resume.
(9) Apply to all positions that interest you. This includes multiple positions that have the same job title. Again, you must apply to all positions in order to be considered.
(10) All positions are open to internal and external applicants. We are giving all interested individuals fair and equal consideration and highly encourage you to apply to all positions that interest you (even if you think someone else wants the position).
