Jim Holler: Creator of Periodic Table

Recently retired chemistry professor was responsible for creating the periodic table of the elements that is showcased in room 139 of the Chem-Phys Building.

These photos give us a detailed account of all that went into that process. Jim designed the table, painted the letters, and performed the installation. Jim's son Brad, who works for the Kentucky State Parks Sign Shop in Frankfort assisted with the design, sandblasted the table, painted the letters, and installed the table.

Joe Miller of the Sign Shop cut the sandblasting mask from Jim's design and painted the background. Jack Selegue of the UK Department of Chemistry served as technical advisor.
